Borchi® Dragon Low VOC is a high-performance, low-VOC, low-odor, cobalt-free metal-ligand catalyst that demonstrates balanced price and performance in solvent-based and solvent-free alkyd formulations.

 

Compared to low-VOC alternative driers, the catalyst offers:

  • fast drying times
  • higher flash point (enabling safer handling)
  • reduced yellowing
  • better hardness

 

Borchi® Dragon Low VOC contains only 2% VOC content (based on ASTM D2369 standards) and is up to 92% biobased carbon (based on ASTM D6866-24 B standards).

Use with Oxime-Free Anti-Skins

When anti-skins are needed in an alkyd formulation, Borchi® Dragon Low VOC can be used with Ascinin® oxime-free anti-skins to enable enhanced skin prevention, storage stability, and minimal effect on dry times. With oximes facing regulatory scrutiny, this combination can help improve product labeling.

  • Dosage

    All resin systems are unique and will require the level of Borchi® Dragon Low VOC to be optimized for the best cost and dry performance. We recommend using a ladder study starting at 0.5 % up to 3 % of Borchi® Dragon Low VOC as supplied on resin solids. Optimized dosage must be determined as excessive Borchi® Dragon Low VOC could reverse dry performance. Borchi® Dragon Low VOC should be added as one of the last ingredients before the Anti-Skinning agent.

  • Storage

    Protect from the effects of weathering and store at temperatures between 5 and 30 °C. Color of product varies on storage.
