Non-Silicone, Water-Based Anti-Foaming Agent for Paints and Coatings

Borchers® AF T is a non-silicone anti-foaming agent based on tri-n-butyl phosphate for use in a wide range of solvent- and water-based pigment pastes and highly loaded systems.

Benefits of Water-Based, Non-Silicone Anti-Foaming Agents

Borchers® AF T is very efficient in the manufacturing stage as it prevents foam formation during production in paints, glues, and adhesives. This anti-foaming agent provides good gloss retention and low haze in formulated systems. It works well when preparing pigment concentrates.

Borchers® AF T destroys foam and increases density. It is ideal for adhesives as it improves wettability in these solutions. Slow hydrolysis is expected in high alkaline systems.

Applications

Borchers® AF T works in grinding processes and pigmented systems. Ideal applications include emulsion paints, glues and adhesives, paper coatings, textile auxiliaries, and concrete additives.

  • Features

    • Destroys foam
    • Prevents foam formation
    • Slow hydrolysis expected in highly alkaline systems
    • Ideal for improving wettability of animal glues

  • Applications

    • Emulsion paints
    • Glues and adhesives
    • Paper coatings
      • Printed and colored paper
      • Wallpaper
    • Textile auxiliaries
    • Concrete additives

  • Dosage

Borchers® AF T can be used as supplied or thinned at the approximate ratio of 1:1 to 1:10 in organic solvents like alcohols, hydrocarbons, esters, etc. It is best added during the manufacturing process to prevent foam stabilization. Recommended levels are 0.01 – 0.50 % as supplied by weight of the formula. The amount must be experimentally determined because it will depend largely on the amount of foam present.

  • Storage

Protect from the effects of weathering and store at temperatures between 5 and 30 °C. Once opened, containers should be resealed immediately after each removal of the product.

  • Safety

Please refer to our safety data sheet for information relating to product safety.
