Dispersant for Bismuth Vanadate Pigments
Borchi® Gen 1757 is a VOC-free dispersant that improves bismuth vanadate pigment dispersions in water- and solvent-based systems. Also known as C.I. Pigment Yellow 184 from Colour Index International, bismuth vanadate is a yellow inorganic pigment that forms from a reaction of bismuth nitrate and sodium vanadate.
Benefits of Dispersants for Bismuth Vanadate Pigments
Benefits of our Borchi® Gen 1757 dispersant for bismuth vanadate include enhanced color development, superior opacity, higher b* value than market leading dispersants, and lower viscosity at high pigment loading (which, in turn, provides excellent pigment wetting). Storage stability and anti-settling are improved when this dispersing agent is used in combination with our Borchi® Gel PN rheology modifier for low shear thickening in water-based systems.
Borchi® Gen 1757 has been tested with various bismuth vanadate pigments, including DCC® Yellow RMXS from Dominion Colour Corp.
Lower viscosity with Borchi® Gen 1757 dispersant indicates excellent pigment wetting
Applications
Borchi® Gen 1757 is ideal for use in automotive, architectural, general industrial, and protective and marine coatings.

Dosage
Active on pigment loading:
- Bismuth vanadate pigments: 10 – 20 %
The exact dosage for bismuth vanadate pigment dispersions should be experimentally determined through a ladder study. Borchi® Gen 1757 should be added to the mill base before adding the pigment.
Storage
Protect from the effects of weathering and store at temperatures between 5 and 30 °C. Once opened, containers should be resealed immediately after each removal of the product.
