Low Molecular Weight Dispersant for Organic Pigments in Water-Based Coatings

Borchi® Gen WNS is a low molecular weight polyether-modified compound-based wetting and dispersing agent for strong color development with organic pigments. This VOC-free and APEO-free additive is a universal dispersant for water- or glycol-based universal tinting pastes.

Benefits of Low Molecular Weight Dispersants vs High Molecular Weight Dispersants

Compared to high molecular weight dispersants, low molecular weight dispersants like Borchi® Gen WNS can provide:

  • Lower grind viscosity
  • More universal compatibility

Performance in Organic Blue Pigment Grind for Industrial Coatings

When tested in a Pigment Blue 15:4 grind formulation for waterborne industrial coatings, Borchi® Gen WNS was able to provide improved dispersions at a lower DOP than a high molecular weight dispersant alternative.

  • Features

    • Universal dispersant for water- or glycol-based universal tinting pastes
    • Strong color development with organic pigments
    • Improved storage stability

  • Applications

    • Universal tinting systems
    • Coatings
      • Architectural
      • Wood
      • General Industrial
    • Printing inks
    • Dry organic pigment granulates and press cakes

  • Dosage

The exact dosage should be experimentally determined through a ladder study. Borchi® Gen WNS should be added to the mill base before adding the pigment. Based on active dispersant on pigment:

    • Titanium dioxide: 1 – 3 %
    • Inorganic pigments: 2 – 5 %
    • Organic pigments: 10 – 40 %
    • Carbon blacks: 30 – 60 %

  • Storage

Protect from the effects of weather and store at temperatures between 5 and 30 °C. Once opened, containers should be resealed immediately after each removal of the product.

  • Safety

Please refer to our safety data sheet for information relating to product safety.
