Rheology Modifier Promoting Pigment Wetting and Stabilization
Borchi® Gel L 75 N is a polyurethane-based, non-ionic liquid rheology modifier that promotes good pigment wetting and stabilization for enhanced color development. This solution is VOC-, APEO-, and organo tin-free. It is a HEUR thickener that develops viscosity stability in water-based coatings, mainly in the medium shear range. However, Borchi® Gel L 75 N can also provide well-balanced efficiency in high shear ranges. Typically, the shear range is between 1000 s-1 to 10000 s-1 depending upon the binder type and other ingredients in the coating.
Benefits of Rheology Modifiers for Good Pigment Wetting and Stabilization
Along with promoting efficient pigment wetting and stabilization, Borchi® Gel L 75 N has a variety of additional benefits. These include compatibility, the promotion of flow and leveling, sag prevention, and the ability to not cause yellowing or chalking in the cured film.

- Develops viscosity stability in water-based coatings mainly in the medium shear range
- Improves rheological properties of water-based coatings systems for easier brush and roller application
- Does not yellow or cause chalking in the cured film
- VOC-free
- APEO-free
- Organo tin-free
Applications
- Coatings
- Acrylic gloss
- Anti-corrosive
- Small particle size emulsions
Dosage
- 0.1 – 2.0% on total paint formulation
Gloss paints may require a higher amount. The exact dosage should be experimentally determined. The thickening action of Borchi® Gel L 75 N may be reduced by polar, water soluble film forming solvents such as alcohols, glycols and glycol ethers. However, low polar solvents such as butyl diglycol acetate and Texanol® will increase the viscosity effect.
Storage
Protect from the effects of weathering and store at temperatures between 5 and 30 °C. Once opened, containers should be resealed immediately after each removal of the product.
