Lithium drier for solvent-based and aqueous systems
Physical Characteristics
Appearance Clear, low-viscous, colorless to yellowish liquid Metal content Li: 1.90 – 2.10 % Non-volatile content 65.00 – 77.00 % ISO 3251 (2g, 3h, 105 °C) Viscosity Max. 1000 mPa.s ISO 3219 (A) (20 °C) Specific gravity NA Density 0.890 – 0.930 g/cm³ DIN 51757 (20 °C) Solvent White-spirit containing <1 % aromatics Features
- Secondary drier that yields best results when combined with Primary driers like e.g. Cobalt or Borchi® OXY – Coat
- Yields improved through-drying and storage stability, especially in systems based on low molecular weight resins
- Improves hardness of coatings and reduces their tendency to yellow and wrinkle
Applications
- Oxidative drying systems, including:
- High-solid coatings based on low molecular weight binders
- Conventional solvent-based and aqueous paints
- Oxidative drying systems, including:
Dosage
In our experience, the percentage addition of lithium, calculated on the metal content per solid binder, is approx. 0.01 – 0.10 % Li. The exact amount required depends on the binder used and should always be determined in preliminary trials.
Storage
Protect from the effects of weathering and store at temperatures below 50 °C. Once opened, containers should be resealed immediately after each removal of the product.
Safety
