  • Initiates rapid surface drying

Applications

  • Oxidative systems, including:
    • Architectural paints
    • Industrial coatings
    • Stains
    • Varnishes

Dosage

In conventional alkyd formulations, the cobalt amount is in the range of 0.03 to 0.08 % metal, calculated on the solid binder. In paints and varnishes Borchers® Deca Cobalt mostly is combined with Borchers® Deca Zirconium and Octa-Soligen® Calcium 10, basic. In printing inks, a combination of Borchers® Deca Cobalt and Borchers® Deca Manganese is recommended. The cobalt amount is in the range of 0.03 to 0.05 % metal, calculated on the solid binder. Irrespective of these guidelines, the addition should always be determined in preliminary trials. In the case of Borchers® Deca Cobalt 7 aqua, suitable secondary driers are Borchers® Deca Zinc 10 aqua and Octa-Soligen® Zirconium 10 Aqua.
