Coating Additives at the 2025 European Coatings Show

Borchers: A Milliken Brand will be showcasing our performance coating additives during the 2025 European Coatings Show right near the east entrance in Hall 4A, Booth 136.
The show will be taking place from March 25th-27th, 2025 in Nuremberg, Germany.
Tin-Free Catalysts
Borchers’ experts will showcase how formulators can efficiently replace Dibutyltin Dilaurate (DBTDL) catalysts with Borchi® Kat Tin-free catalysts in polyurethane systems. While DBTDL is popular due to its fast dry times and durable features, in the European Union (EU), under REACH Annex XVII restriction 20, more than 0.1% weight of DBTDL is restricted in consumer products.
A Tin-free product presentation will highlight how Borchers’ catalyst technology can help replace Tin-based catalysts without compromising performance in polyurethane coatings. Furthermore, the presented data will highlight how common issues such as short pot life and slow drying times can be resolved.

The presentation will take place on Wednesday, March 26th from 4:10-4:30 PM in Hall 5, Stand 243.
High-Performance Catalysts and Oxime-Free Anti-Skins
We will also be promoting the use of unique Iron and Manganese high-performance catalysts that are free of Cobalt with MEKO- and oxime-free anti-skinning agents in solventborne and waterborne alkyd coating systems.
In Europe, Cobalt metal received a harmonized classification including Carcinogen 1B in the EU’s Classification, Labeling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation. MEKO has been classified as a Category 1B Carcinogen by the EU, requiring labeling in formulations with 0.1% or more MEKO content.
Borchi® Cobalt-free high-performance catalysts and Ascinin® MEKO- and oxime-free anti-skins can help improve dry times and skin prevention while reducing impact from these Cobalt and MEKO regulations.

Reduced VOCs
Borchi® Dragon Low VOC, Borchers’ NEW high-performance catalyst, contains only 2% VOC content (ASTM D2369) and can help provide excellent dry times, yellowing reduction, and corrosion resistance in high solids alkyd systems.
