Borchi® Guard A

Oxime-free and hydroxylamine-free anti-skinning agent for oxidatively cured low VOC coating systems and pigment pastes

Other oxime-free anti-skins include:     oxime free anti skinning agent webinar

Physical Characteristics

Appearance Clear, colorless to light yellow liquid ISO 4619

Viscosity

Max. 50 mPa·s ISO 3219 (A)

Density

0.950- 0.990 g/cm3 DIN 51757

Features

  • Improves the storage stability of solvent-based and solvent-free oxidatively cured coating systems, printing inks and pigment pastes by preventing skin-formation on the surface of the coating while still in the container
  • Efficient at low dosages, achieves excellent dry times across a variety of primary driers, and maintains excellent storage stability with minimal loss of dry
  • Controls surface dry retardation and keeps the film open longer to ensure deeper penetration of oxygen to lower film layers which promotes through dry and improves flow properties
  • Maintains storage stability while maintaining excellent dry times for all primary driers

Applications

  • Architectural and industrial coatings
  • High solids, oxidatively cured systems

Dosage

Borchi® Guard A can be incorporated at any stage of the manufacturing process. However, for optimum performance, addition as the final component after the driers is strongly recommended. Pre-dilution is not recommended.

The recommended dosage in the finished system is typically in the range of approximately 0.4–1.0%, depending on the binder type and the amount of driers used.

When Borchi® Guard A is used as a replacement for 2-pentanone oxime or MEKO (methyl ethyl ketoxime), a dosage level of approximately 70–80% of the current 2-pentanone oxime or methyl ethyl ketoxime concentration should be taken as a guideline. Fine adjustment should be carried out based on the specific formulation and performance requirements.

Storage

Protect from the effects of weathering and store at temperatures between 5 and 30 °C. Once opened, containers should be resealed immediately after each removal of the product.
